AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II coming October 2 for $200

AT&T has confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy S II will launch on October 2, with the dual-core Super AMOLED Plus smartphone priced at $199.99 with a new, two-year agreement. Announced last month, the Android 2.3 Gingerbread smartphone has a 4.3-inch WVGA display and a dual-core Exynos 1.2 GHz processor, along with an 8-megapixel camera capable of Full HD video recording.

The smartphone requires a minimum $15/month data plan along with the standard voice plan. No off-contract pricing has been announced yet. Connectivity includes HDMI (via adapter), WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 and a headphone socket, all in an 8.89mm thick chassis. There's also Wi-Fi hotspot support for up to 8 devices.

Altogether it's one of the Android phones – nay, the smartphones – of 2011, and a much-anticipated rival to Apple's iPhone. More on the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II in our full hands-on, while you can find our review of the original GSM version of the smartphone here.
