AT&T proposes settlement of class action suits over billing practices for wireless

AT&T is no stranger to class action suits and has some new ones coming with suits over the iPhone 4 already going in some states. Back in 2004 when AT&T and Cingular combined there were suits filed over billing practices at AT&T.

The class action suits were to do with billing practices on mMode Data Service, charges for ENH discount International Dial, charges for cellular phone calls mode during a billing period other than when the calls were made (out-of-cycle billing) and the universal connectivity charge. AT&T has proposed a settlement to end the class action without any admission of wrongdoing.

The wireless provider claims the proposed settlement if to avoid burden and cost of further litigation. Class suit members who were customers after March of 1999 and submit Approval Claims Forms will be eligible to get $8 for mMode, $10 for ENH Discount International Dial, $8 for out-of-cycle billing, and $7 for the UCC.
