The problem with your thesis is that T-Mobile sucks pretty much everywhere. My unlimited data plan with AT&T only runs me 73 bucks a month. My Iphone 3GS slowly fell apart and happily totally threw up a couple months back. Really looking forward to this Nokia device

These poor buggers “don’t think twice” because the choice isn’t there for them. Why should Joe the Plumber settle for crappy MetroPCS on a pos Huawei, when they could have a decent phone on a decent network – oh wait, those networks are ripping people off, so pricing Joe out. Nice. In the UK, you get the iPhone 4S on T-Mo for FREE and then pay just £45/month (about $70) for decent data, minutes and texts. The way pricing works here in the US is totally unfair. T-Mobile USA are the most reasonable for a big network and for one that doesn’t suck like Virgin/Boost/Cellular One or whatever. If Verizon and at&t offered the same kind of plans as T-Mobile ($50 for unlimited everything) I’d change my tune. Until then, those other network fat cats are getting fatter, and it’s the average American that’s paying. WRONG.

But the model works. Millions pay twice this for an iphone or new this month android phone plus all the monthly charges and don’t think twice. Most Americans can afford it. Don’t like it, find a regional carrier with poor service and old phone technology.

at&t is a rip off. You’ll pay $99.99 + tax for the Lumia 900, so call it $110 in most states. Then at&t will make you pay around $105 per month for a plan that will include what you need (texts and plenty of data, and minutes of course). So over two years, you’ll pay at&t about $2520 plus the cost of the device.
I’m on T-Mobile USA and I pay $55 for unlimited everything. It doesn’t take a mathematical genius to work out that paying $500 outright for an unlocked, unsubsidized phone, then $55 a month is much better value. But mobile telecoms don’t work like that out here. Everyone just zombies into at&t and Verizon stores and zombies out having signed those ridiculously expensive contracts. C’est la vie.

i still don’t get it with USA pricing… its going to $100 but how much is your monthly bill?
if you are paying $100 and then paying $20 for the next two years on your monthly bill then that would be a bargain.

Is there going to be a version of the 900/800 carried by Verizon or Sprint? Does anybody know if this will happen?
