AT&T: Moto X camera update today, HTC One Android 4.3 next week
Two flagship Android phones on AT&T are in line for some software attention, beginning with the carrier pushing out the camera and touchless controls update to the Moto X from today. The firmware, which was released to T-Mobile Moto X owners back in September, improves auto-white balance and color accuracy, as well as exposure particularly in low-light situations. Meanwhile, there's a much-anticipated update to the HTC One on AT&T's horizon, too.
AT&T has certified the Android 4.3 update for the One, HTC's Jason Mackenzie confirmed on Twitter today. That's expected to be pushed out to subscribers' devices early next week, the HTC America president revealed.
The update leaked last month, though suggestions at the time that AT&T would have it released officially before September was through failed to pan out.
As for the Motorola, there's no more waiting there; owners of the Moto X can either hang tight until the firmware update is pushed out to them automatically, or trigger an update manually through the phone's settings menu. In addition to the camera changes – which also see the touch-focus speed up and better focus handling of fast-moving subjects – there are changes to how touchless Google Now is accessed.
That includes "faster response and improved accuracy" in how the system recognizes voice-only commands, and improvements to the training process by which the Moto X recognizes the user's voice. Motorola Migrate data transfers have been enhanced with the update too, and there's a bugfix in the remote-location tool that addresses lost devices for some users.
