I fully understand why you are upset and personally Nokia shouldn't ditch the FFC. FFC is useless feature to most people and adds cost to consumers. Nokia needs a cheaper rival to put against anyone in the market today. Lumia ain't perfect but it will keep the company afloat for a while but I cannot deny it that it is beautiful(won't buy since my N8 serve me extremely well despite of it's crappy OS). My advise is to wait for the next generation of WP7 Nokia's. Already there is a talk of the next N8 in the pipeline(with 3x optical zoom but not sure what OS it is running). If what they release now(Lumia) is a stunning example of what Nokia can do now, imagine what they'll release next year.

Oh I'm sure it's gorgeous in person, and before it was released knowing Nokia's work I was highly looking forward to it. I think it was a good release right now, I just thought it came up short of being the phone for their 2012 US LTE plans. I was of the thought that a Lumia 900 would fit that bill, I actually thought the 800 would be a UK thing.

I understand what you're saying. I've been waiting to see which of the big 3 Windows Phones I'm going to go for (HTC Titan, Samsung Focus S, and Nokia 800). I had a chance to see all 3 this last weekend at the New York launch. The HTC and Samsung are phenomenal, but the Nokia is gorgeous, absolutely drop dead gorgeous. It's impossible to explain, but you're just drawn to it, and others with me said the same. Maybe it has to do with it being Nokia's first big release of a smartphone in the U.S., but it's just...ugh...it's devastatingly pretty.

Yeah I hear you, and I'm sure it will be a great phone. I guess I was upset because I use that feature, albeit only in my home when I'm on WiFi, and I was really looking forward to the flagship Nokia would put out. But I still think the lack of the FFC will effect it's sales. The Focus was the most popular phone in the US last year, in regards to WP7, and I think the Focus S will take that crown going down the road.

I use the camera on my phone alot because I use it to call my son's mother and speak to my son thru Tango on Android so he can see me. And I don't have a desktop, so my phone is what I use for video calling. And i do realize the FFC is more of a luxury item than a necessity, but if you look at all of the most popular phones across all platforms, everyone's flagship now has a FFC. And having this feature along with the other latest features and specs are why these phones become the most popular phones. I currently have an Android phone on AT&T, but I am looking to make the switch to WP7.5. I just think going forward, with Tango coming out and given the popularity of Skype, Nokia should've had a FFC on their flagship. I still hold out hope for a Lumia 900 or something, and even with the fact of the FFC being just a luxury item, I am willing to bet the Focus S will be the most popular WP in the US. Partly because of the FFC, your committed for 18 months with the phone, I want to move ahead knowing my phone will be compatible with what's coming out. Like I said, I agree that everyone doesn't use it and it is a luxury item, but the lack of it again I am willing to bet will reflect in the sales of this phone.

I think it will take the place as the flagship phone but just because it doesn't have every little gadget that others have doesn't take anything away from it. I think it makes up for it with other features and since Microsoft aswell as Nokia hint at the fact it will be the flagship of WP7 still makes me think this will have more features than other WP7 models, just minus the FFC. Which might not be a matter of cost but demand. Its not coming here for another 2-4 months, which gives them ample time to add more software features others will not have.

I am waiting on pricing for this phone under Verizon or Sprint. Whichever one carries it I will go with for my new contract which ends in July. Hopefully I will not have to spend more than $200 for it, if so it will probably change my mind. So Nokia make sure it is around $200 with a contract. Also if Sprint still has the unlimited plan that will take me away from Verizon. Also keep this free of a front facing camera, I dont want it. Nokia if you do change something put a dual or quad core chip inside.

I agree a front facing camera on a phone is pointless. Its a phone, not a video confrence device. And until someone makes a phone that has no use for the phone feature there will not be a need for the front facing camera.

On a tablet sure put the front camera in it and get rid of the rear camera. Its the size issue here not convience. You dont use something with a 8-12" screen to take pictures with, you place it on a table or in your lap to use. So the use of a front facing camera is needed for seeing you. The phone on the other hand is meant to be in the palm of your hand. So a rear camera is needed and not the front facing camera. Your arm would get fatigued with it out stretched for the length of a video conference. If your answer is well you put it down on a desk then thats why you have a camera in a tablet or built into a laptop or desktop monitor. This is where the market is for a front camera. If my phone had a front camera I would never need it cause I dont video chat like the majority of phone users.

The front facing camera might be handy dandy for the 5% of users (probably a high number) but as you see with Apple and their Mac Pro which is on its way out from recent reports. It's the demand for it and the majority dont need the front camera. I myself would need a Mac Pro and not the other PCs that Apple makes because it fits my needs and the few other minorities that buy Apple products but its not their main money maker.

Just because you want, doesn't mean people want. Have you ever seen anyone use FFC in public? The answer is simply NO. So why give it if people don't use it? People want lower prices, and excluding FFC would lower the price.

Nokia had FFCs on their phones before other phones even had a rear camera. If they excluded FFC, there was a business reason for that.
