What about new data plans for higher capped data tiers each month like Verizon has? No one will use an LTE phone with a 2GB or 4GB and not expect to run over the usage limit in a short amount of time. If they launch the first LTE phone without new plans in place, people will not purchase the devices fearing the will go over their limits and pay overage charges. Get a clue ATT!

A summary comparison is that 4G is network speed and 4G LTE is bandwidth capacity. Test the difference by Verizon's 3G CDMA and 4G LTE at the same cellsite and only check email and do business work instead of heavy consumer downloads. The 3G CDMA from Verizon is secure and speedy up to 1.5 Mbps. Verizon's 4G LTE is for downloads of content such as gaming and entertainment on the greater bandwidth capacity. Verizon also shifts, and unfortunately disconnects, as it goes between 3G CDMA and 4G LTE depending on the user behavior tracked by the VZAM from Smith Micro software. Verizon is expanding its relationship with Boingo similar to the wholesale contracts of Boingo with partners such as Towerstream for Manhattan and mobile operator LG Uplus in South Korea. Verizon might try to make the offloading to Boingo to be seamless, particularly airports. Why should a Verizon customer pay for LTE is the carrier is offloading to Wi-Fi and disconnecting in down-shifting to 3G CDMA? Is 4G LTE just a brand marketed and priced by Verizon, and can we expect if Apple agrees to display 4G for HSPA+ that AT&T will do the same?
