True, but more cores usually mean better multitasking AND better batterylife.....even if those cores don't get utilised in apps.....besides if no hardware HAS quad cores to begin with..how can there be any apps designed?? you have to have the hardware before the software gets made for it right?
(chicken and the egg and all that! ;) )

HI CHRIS BURNS; Thanks for the excelant article...I have a request....could you PLEASE....do a direct comparison of BOTH the international @ AT@T in a face off?? with a test for various games...launching various apps/web browsing/at the same time as one another to gauge the Single thread performance....

Also another interesting thing for consumers would be the multi tasking experience of both the Tegra 3 v Snapdragon S4...launching LOADS of apps for both phones and see which shows slow down first??
I have recommended lots of people to this web site, so this request would be appreciated..thanks ;)

Yea S4 is faster in general...Tegra 3 has twice as many weaker A9 cores....slightly better GPU...but S4 has MUCH better Krait CPU, with more than twice the FPU.(128bit)...so is much faster doing one thing at once...Tegra has twice the cores...HOWEVER.....it has half the bandwidth...so it might even be dead even multitasking...

I have seen S4 video where it was multitasking LOADS of different things..including high quality games WITH NO SLOWDOWN....Ive seen Tegra 3 get some slowdown/lag doing similar despite having twice the cores, (bandwidth??)

First off, S4 is NOT Cortex A15....they are not related other than sharing the same updated ISA..(ARMv7) the S4 carries Qualcomms home baked Krait Cpu....it IS next gen and superior to Cortex A9 in Tegra 3...however Tegra 3 has 4 A9's..where S4 is a dual...meaning that in single threaded stuff..(1 thing at a time) S4 should crush Tegra 3 (i have seen other videos where Tegra3 looks a bit slower than S4)..Tegra 3 should be better multi tasking and slightly better at gaming due to slightly better GPU, and better software...

Qualcomm S4 also has twice the bandwidth, and is built using 28nm manufacturing...

Cortex A15 will debut on Samsung Exynos 5250 @2.0ghz...it is even faster still over Krait....note that Tegra 4 will launch Q1 2013...and Krait S4 PRO Q3 2012...both will be game changing..;)

I have to say, from using the asus prime, the highly lauded tegra 3 is somewhat overrated. Its web browsing speeds post ICS barely eeks out my gingerbread galaxy sII; once ics comes my SII will likely easily smoke the asus prime. The ipad 2 in any video comparison manages to destroy tegra 3 in most real life speed comparisons as well. Tegra 2 was obviously worst and also highly overrated.

not really, because the s4 is an a15 and the tegra 3 is an a9. a15 is about twice as fast, with twice as much power usage, so theyre, theoretically, very similar in speed. the s4 is just made a little bit better
