ASUS VivoTab 8 Windows tablet offers Bay Trail on a budget

Joining the roster of devices the company rolled out this month is a new Windows tablet from ASUS, the VivoTab 8. This slate isn't to be confused with the similarly-named VivoTab Note 8, which made its debut earlier on this year for what will likely turn out to be a higher price tag than the newest slate.

The newest VivoTab is up on ASUS' website, where its specs are laid bare, but nary a price tag is to be found. The slate features an 8-inch IPS LED display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 and support for 10-finger multi-touch. This is joined by a pair of front and rear 2-megapixel cameras.

Under the hood lies an Intel Atom Z3745 quad-core 1.86GHz processor alongside 1GB or 2GB of RAM, depending on model, and 32GB of internal storage. Connectivity includes Bluetooth 4.0 and 802.11 a/b/g/n, a micro USB port, a combo audio jack, and a microSD card slot with support for up to 64GB.

Rounding out the specs is a pair of stereo speakers, the promise of 8 hours of run time on a charge, and GPS + GLONASS. Notably, this tablet doesn't include a stylus like its Note 8 sibling. The slate will be available in white, black, purple, and gold, running Windows 8.1.
