Asus unveils Dual Intelligent processor motherboard design

Asus has unveiled a new motherboard design that uses what the company calls Dual Intelligent Processors. The design of the board is to enable high performance and energy savings in one mainboard. The architecture of the board uses a TurboV processing unit known as the TPU and an Energy Processing Unit called the EPU. When the processors are both used, the mainboard gets performance and can still have power sipping green features.

The TPU is an overhaul of the current TurboV design with a single processor with the sole purpose of speeding performance of the mainboard in real time and monitoring the system in real time to ensure stability. The TPU is able to remove some of the workload from the CPU during intensive tasks and tune system resources for ultimate performance. Overall output is boosted by 37% according to Asus.

The Asus exclusive EPU is the other processor. The sole purpose of this processor is to moderate power consumption by monitoring the usage of the system. The processor reduces consumption of power during idle times and gives full performance when high loads are detected. The system will be offered on a wide range of mainboards from Asus including the P7P55D-E Deluxe pictured here.
