If it helps, ICS going onto my TF101 has made it act like it just got a new processor. There's now zero lag. It makes Honeycomb look like Alpha software. An added bonus is that they seem to have tweaked the video drivers as the screen is crisper, brighter, and nicer looking than it used to be. I had been considering replacing it with a Prime, but with these improvements, I think I'll keep it around for awhile. :)

I have read a good number of reviews abot the Prime and about 25% seem to be consistent with the fact that there is poor wifi connectivity. Do you know if this is still a problem or is this a thing of the past that was related to honeycomb, not ICS. So read a lot that says there are reboot issues that frequent this tablet. Thoughts? P.S. great website!!!

Thanks for the tip on the Force GPU Rendering function. I already had the device running on all five cores, but this should help things even more.

BTW, does anyone know how to make user settings permanent? I've noticed that if you shut down the prime (not just put it into sleep mode), when you restart, it defaults back to balanced mode and doesn't remember that you placed it in performance mode. I don't shut the prime down often, but this is kind of annoying. it should remember the settings you put it on.

It would be great if you did some hardcore gps and wifi tests. Been concentrating on the gps myself. I saw where someone put an aluminum pot over their phone with GPS test running, and ran the tf201 next to it. I got the same result! My much maligned HTC thunderbolt kept a lock on 9 satellites in the house under one of my wife's precious Calphalon pots which are 1/8 inch spun aluminum with heavy Teflon coating. To be fair it was warm and clear enough last night to leave the tf201 out on the deck rail last night, and it turned in a lock on 9 out of 13 satellites next to my tf101, which used 9 of 9 at 1/3 more signal strength. This eliminates whining that I didn't give the tf201 a chance... remember if you will that the thunderbolt has a solid aircraft aluminum case, too! So what did the tf201 show for satellites this morning? A fat, juicy 0 after 15 minutes. Fail?

Best part of ICS is the ability to freeze programs without root so they don't run. Quadrant Standard turned a 2900+ in on mine this morning, next to the 101's paltry 1400... but what do the numbers mean? One time the 101 turned in a 2400. There are so many options available in ICS that it would be difficult to get a clear picture, so I am defending the author. :)

Question no more, my friend. Not trying to troll either... Got 30 years in the biz, and own the 201, the 101 (rooted), the HP Slate, an iPad 1, and have used just about all the others. I ordered two for my department, and both have the same issues: Spotty wifi (connects at about half the strength of the 101), and non-existent GPS. Works great if you turn on wifi locator - which is what the update "fixed". There is a great synopsis out there somewhere - I was up Googling late last night - that explains the antenna issues vis-a-vis the iPad. It is really a shame, because this thing would totally rock if it had more plastic... I use the 101 in a RAM mount in my truck tethered to my Thunderbolt. Downloads map detail like a demon on 4G... will post more as time goes on (notice I didn't say anything about the iPad)

I've been using my 32GB Champagne Gold Prime for 2 weeks now and I've been very impressed.

PROS:
- Stunning to look at, I would even call it sexy
- Very quick transitions between home screens and the app tray
- The range of the WiFi is as far as my Droid X (WiFi issues were fixed as far as I'm concerned)
- Only Ice Cream Sandwich tablet out there at the time I'm writing this
- Can "freeze" apps (though it's not really needed because there is very little to no bloatware on it -- the preinstalled apps I actually use, unlike my Droid X which has so much Verizon crap on it)
- Camera works well (not that I'd ever use a tablet as a camera)
- The Gorilla Glass screen simply doesn't scratch.
- Bluetooth works well
- The Battery lasts for 2 days under moderate-heavy usage.
- The screen looks brilliant. Netflix and THD apps look amazing.
- Able to handle THD apps (Tegra 3 only apps) which offer higher performance and better visuals

SO-SOs
- Comes with an ICS and an ASUS Keyboard, both are meh. I use Thumb Keyboard from the Android Market which is totally awesome on tablets.
- Even without GPS activated it can find out where I am. I haven't tested out if the real GPS (satellites) works yet.
- The backside of it looks very sexy but is the reason for said GPS issues, it is also prone to scratches.
- Pictures and Media can be viewed on the microSD Card without having to transfer them to the tablet, but sadly apps cannot be installed to the microSD Card.

CONS:
- Fingerprint magnet.
- No 3G/4G (can be fixed by tethering connection to cell phone via WiFi or Bluetooth)
- Some of the apps on my phone (like Plants vs. Zombies) do not yet work on Android Tablets/ICS.

I don't know what this wi-fi issue is. I'm running it in a 3 level house in the upstairs with the wireless access point in the basement. It is an N router so distance is limited by that technology and I have absolutely NO issues. I've never had wi-fi issues at businesses, work, home, friends homes, family homes. This is the slickest more well made device I own and I have no issues with having purchased it. I also purchased this after hearing about the new one, which is NOT a hundred dollar worth upgrade, and do not have any remorse and will not wish to have the new one over this one.

I question this comment because I think people that don't own the device are on here trying to get people to hate on this device. Potentially Apple guys swaying the general public away. That may not be the case here, it is possible that you have a faulty unit, but mine has been incredible and I have no issues with either wi-fi or GPS. I will admit that I don't know what people are doing that the GPS is actually causing an issue, probably as a nav device. I have a nav in car and my phone does nav as well. I don't need this device to do that.

I also purchased this after hearing about the new one, which is NOT a hundred dollar worth upgrade, and do not have any remorse and will not wish to have the new one over this one.

I question this comment because I think people that don’t own the device are on here trying to get people to hate on this device. Potentially Apple guys swaying the general public away. That may not be the case here, it is possible that you have a faulty unit, but mine has been incredible and I have no issues with either wi-fi or GPS. I will admit that I don’t know what people are doing that the GPS is actually causing an issue, probably as a nav device. I have a nav in car and my phone does nav as well. I don’t need this device to do that.

Where do you live - in the stockroom of Starbucks, or a one room apartment? I have a Cradlepoint mbr1200 with extended antennas, and only get 1 bar on the crapper. ;) used to get 4 with the TF101... range of the 1200 is 750 feet. I get 3 bars with the 101 in my driveway on the other end of the house. I have the 11.1 update on the 18th, and Nothing was improved.

Just got my 64gb champagne yesterday, and after 1 evening with it decided to hold on to my TF101 for a little longer. I get tablets to review at work, and have used all of them. Even with a 9.4.2.11.1 update (search for it), the GPS is terrible indoors, the browser is laggy, and wifi is half the receive strength of the 101. I had to disable FlexT9 to type this! Otherwise it is sexy, fast, comfortable to hold, and NOT an Apple device. Best feature for me is the ability to disable bloatware, something you could only do with root before. Camera is fabulous with twice the options of the 101 and tap autofocus.
