Non issue to this tablet owner! My tablet works just fine. The GPS is a silly feature gimmick, kind of like buying a a 16 megapixel camera. (1) These are wifi tablets so with no mobile network, what are you doing with GPS? (2) I would never want/buy a 10″ GPS unit anyway. kid of a little big to even use on my dashboard.

The product must be recalled and replaced with the TF700t which actually meets the specification given on the TF201. I keep loosing WiFi when other devices show a good signal and the GPS is not worth talking about. The proposed dongle does nothing with the WiFi problem and i do not accept it as a solution since it was not part of the specification when i bought the device.

yeah true.

some loyal iphone fans didn’t complain though, yet those who don’t use iphones (android fans) used it to bash apple. my comment is actually not for asus vs. apple but the fans.

It’s a great service of them.
In the tech specs the prime doesn’t longer support GPS officially since months. People who bought it before got an extended warranty to 30 months or they could also get their money back if they required gps so much. That alone was already enough.

This dongle is a great extra many didn’t expected and a nice servce – nothing they had to do.

Apple got a like of junk of the Antennagate deal because of how Apple reacted. Which was denial, “don’t hold it that way”, then after the situation blew up enough they relented admitting it was a fault and gave out bumpers.

Asus’s reaction was to try to fix it with software updates, offer returns(so if gps was that big of a deal you should have got your money back at that point), more software attempts and now a free plug in.

Not to mention being able to hold and use the phone at the same time as kind of a key feature, where as gps functionality was a bonus. But they both should have been caught well ahead of release.

Dang. Problems galore. I haven’t been able to find any locally, and online supply is spotty through reputable sellers and at scalper prices elsewhere….

I really really want this, but I think I’ll hold out for a better alternative. Maybe the new Prime, assuming it’s not another blunder.

lucky for asus tablets and phones they are not as popular as apple’s (not a fanboy, but let’s get real). otherwise they’ll get a lot of that “antenna gate” shit just like apple.

I have used my GPS just to check how many satellites it locks, but for a real situation never but I will request the extension kit just in case I need it in the future.

Are they crazy? this solution is nonsense, I use the keyboard so with this monster plug now I have a new problem, why they did not offer a usb solution? shame on asus, will never buy anything form them

Even since I don’t use much of the GPS feature on the tablet, besides the occasional Facebook check in or such, I am going to get it. It is free and I don’t have to pay a dime, and if for some odd reason I need it I will have it.
