lol I took one look at the photos and the grease was so bad I thought the edges of the thing were textured like that! It almost looks like they did that on purpose because even if I tried I could not get it looking that bad. Looks EXTREMELY unprofessional.

Awww…that means I can’t Skype with my wife and see my 11 month old daughter because I don’t fit your definition of someone who would use a front facing camera.

As for the tablet you mentioned you would like, I think the Kindle Fire fits the bill for your needs.

I don’t think you will see the charge by USB thing. I remember reading somewhere that you just can’t move enough juice through USB to charge a device with this much power. Otherwise I completely agree. I was so excited about the MeMo until I saw there was no front facing camera. Instead of an 8mp rear camera, I would be happy with a cheaper 5mp rear camera and a 1.3m front facing one. Video conferencing with a tablet is so much better than with a PC/Laptop. Oh well…I guess we continue to wait…

I have used the frontfacing camera on my tablet exactly 0 times. Unless you are a deployed soldier or a gamer who has a girlfriend in Sweden, I don’t believe a front-facing camera should be a dealbreaker. Also it has a microUSB, no? For the few times you plan to use camera chat, get a USB webcam.

I actually wish I could build my own tablet, take out the front camera, GPS, bluetooth to reduce the price.

Something like the above in the article but in addition with a front camera, battery life to match Apples devices, audio mute rocker like on the Iconia A100, able to charge with usb if needed, no application lock out.

Everytime a potential iPad killer comes along the manufacturer decides to leave out one important feature that keeps it from being number one!

If it is not a longer battery life then it’s that the front camera was left off or that it cannot be charged connected by usb port.

My point is when are the manufacturers going to actually come out with a device that has the best of all other tablets without leaving hardware out?

I still feel like the people designing these devices aren’t serious enough to bring their game against the iPad!

Come on guys get with the program!

I have to agree with the anon about the fingerprints. It just seems lazy to not wipe the device down before photographing it, then uploading these photos, after seeing how awful they looked.
Anyway, this device seems pretty amazing. It is in the price range that many people would consider affordable. I think this will really give the big boys a run for their money.

me too. i really think a front facing camera is more important than a rear one on a tablet. i rarely see someone shooting a photo with a tablet.

What the hell guys. This is the umpteenth tech blog I’ve seen where a tablet was reviewed and in the photos the damn thing was covered with fingerprints and smudges. Yours is by far the worst I’ve seen. For starters it distracts from the overall look of the product, secondly it makes it difficult to gauge the quality of the display, and lastly it just screams that you have absolutely no pride in what you do. If I were the manufacturer and I lent you an upcoming product to review and get people interested I would be livid that you chose to photograph my product in the worst possible state, covered with fingerprints like it had been handled by a 10 year old eating french fries. FFS I know you have a lint free cloth floating around there somewhere, use it.

$250 for a quadcore!?! Oh man. That blows away the Kindle Fire and Nook Tablet. Amazon better have something fantastic for the second Fire.
