ASUS snap up Tegra 2 chips for March 2011 Eee Pad EP90 launch

Further evidence for ASUS' leaked Eee Pad EP90 tablet has emerged, with the word coming out of Taipei that the company has ordered 200k to 300k NVIDIA Tegra 2 chips.  According to the source, ASUS will initially use the second-gen Tegra in the EP90, which supposedly runs Windows 7 Embedded on an 8.9-inch touchscreen, and then on smartphones capable of 3D gaming and Full HD media playback.

The Eee Pad E90 – details of which were spotted on leaked internal ASUS documents earlier this month – is expected to drop in March 2011, complete with 8GB, 16GB or 32GB of internal storage and battery life of up to 4.5hrs.  That seems on the low side to us, having used other Tegra-based devices, but perhaps Windows 7 Embedded squanders some of NVIDIA's frugality.
