ASUS Eee Reader ebook device in final development; two screen sizes?

ASUS have revealed a few more details about their upcoming ebook reader, the tentatively-named Eee Reader.  Potentially landing in late 2009 "at the earliest", the Eee Reader will – say industry sources, in usual DigiTimes style – come in two versions with either a 6- or 9-inch monochrome touchscreen.

However, while ASUS' eye-catching concept device may have dual displays, it's unlikely that their eventual production device will be so complex.  Instead, it'll likely slot in at the budget end of the market, hoping to do for ebook readers what the Eee PC originally did in the ultraportable space.

ASUS CEO Jerry Shen also confirmed that the Eee Keyboard would arrive in October, and that the company is looking at other CULV-based notebooks for release later in the year.  In all, the company is predicting total shipments of ultra-thin notebooks to amount to 600,000 by the end of 2009.
