Looks like Asus is finally gearing up to launch their budget UMPC next month. We’ve heard rumors about release dates and prices, however, Asus has made an official statement that will put any questions to rest.

Asus is planning on shipping around 20,000 units at launch, with over 500,000 to be shipped by the year’s end. For now it seems that they’re still looking at releasing the $199 model, along with 3 others ranging up to $369.
In case you hadn’t caught all of the specs previously, it’s going to have a 7-inch screen, ethernet, 56k modem, 802.11b/g wireless, integrated webcam, 512MB of RAM and between 4GB and 16GB of storage. Look for these to ship in mid-September.
