Boy, the Foleo sure is going to have some tough competition. First Via shows off their smaller and lighter device that runs Windows, now Asus is wanting some of the action.

The Asus Eee PC 701 (can you really stack three e’s together to make a name?) is a 1.9 -pound ultraportable/UMPC hybrid with a 7-inch screen and a full keyboard. It will see 512MB of RAM and a SSD drive ranging from 4-16GB. Other niceties include built-in wireless, mic and webcam.
No word yet on pricing or availability. Hopefully we’ll see this one hit a similar pricepoint as the Foleo and NanoBook.

Asus are claiming $200 retail on this. If that’s true (or even within $50 of being true) then they have themselves a sale.
Think how awesome this would be with an SD card slot. **** it, not like I can’t just get a $5 USB sd card reader….. SWEET! Now I can have a laptop with 20 gb (4gb flash drive, +16gb SD card), and play super nintendo on the go without stressing about losing $200. That’s the main problem with laptops: You have to be completely paranoid when you set it anywhere. This one? Meh… at $200 you won’t cry yourself to sleep at night.
it DOES have an SD card slot, doi. http://www.hothardware.com/art.....ee/?page=1
wait til the us companies start blocking the arrival of this and many other similar products into the US market, because they want to keep pushing down the throats of the customers their expensive junk that is work nothing for thousands of dollars, viva asus and the spirit of competition down with the expensive junk from dell, ibm, gateway
