ASUS Eee PC 1201T barebones gets $390 sticker

It's been a long time since we first saw the ASUS Eee PC 1201T, one of the company's rarer AMD Congo MV40 based notebooks, but if you have a spare $389.99 lying around you can pick one up from Newegg now.  The 12.1-inch WXGA ultraportable pairs AMD's 1.6GHz processor with ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics, though you'll need to provide your own OS if you want anything more extravagant than the quick-loading Express Gate interface.

As for the other specifications, you're getting a reasonable machine for your money.  The display runs at 1366 x 768 resolution and there's 2GB of memory, a 160GB hard-drive, WiFi b/g/n and Bluetooth.  Connectivity includes 10/100 ethernet, VGA and three USB 2.0 ports, along with audio in/out, and there's a 0.3-megapixel webcam too.

ASUS reckon you'll see 6hrs runtime out of the 1201T's battery, though in our experience AMD-based ULV notebooks tend to have poorer runtimes than their Intel counterparts.  Still, if you've an old copy of XP lying around (or a taste for Linux) then this might be a reasonable budget way to get working while mobile.
