Amazon is selling the Asus Transformer 16GB for $314 and the Acer Iconia A500 16GB is only $313 shipped if you use your Amazon Visa card (20% discount). So if price is the deciding factor, then the Iconia trumps the Transformer. However, my deciding factor is the weight, so i'm still getting the Transformer (although I hate the cheap brown plastic back).

If anyone is in the market for a good flashlight app with no ads for the Asus Transformer or other Android tablets, check out Light HD. It doesn't do too much, but it's just what I needed, sets brightness to max on a white screen, and then automatically returns the brightness to your original setting! Sweet!

Please view photos on the tablets to compare color depth, not movies.
The image in a movie is always changing and even if you pause it there might be compression issues that result in a lower quality image making any color depth difference not noticeable.
Photos or images with large area of color fade are probably the best for seeing any difference.

I will also note that:
+ then screen on the Transformer is scratch resistant
- the Transformer has quality problems with the charger and its cable (and at the moment there are no replacements available)

To anybody still wondering, Transformer vs Iconia, a friend and I put them side by side. We find the keyboard for the transformer a cool novelty item, but nothing more, it just turns it into an overpriced net book, but without it you loose your SD card and USB ports. As for the screens, though there is a technological difference between the 2, there really isn't a discernable one. The extra view angle is slight and will never be realized, and the color depth difference isn't even noticable with blue ray movies. What is noticable, however, is the Iconia's full USB port and onboard micro SD. I can plug flash drives, keyboards, even my friends iPhone into it no problem. For the SD card/flash drive file management issue, get ES file explorer, its free will let you move files from one storage source to another, and even supports windows samba file share (meaning you can share a folder from your computer and copy files from it to your device wirelessly. I also use the flash and the forward camera for video chat, where the transformer lacks the flash, and has a lesser forward camera. If you want a touch screen net book, go with the transformer, but if you want a truely mobile tablet, the Iconias the way to go.

Yes, it does work with any usb keyboard, I just pulled mine out and plugged it in, and it worked. I love my Iconia. I let it charge overnight and used it throughout the day, and forgot about, but later I kept hearing this weird short buzz kind of noise, looked behind my laptop, and picked up my A500 and it was letting me know it was time to plug it in, Believe it or not, the battery up time was 13 hours and 6 minutes. Amazing!! I am very pleased. Also, my husband received his Asus, today, and they are practically identical. We'll check his battery life tomorrow. They are both great tabs. The only frustrating thing on both of them is the misleading fact that you can easily use the extra sd space. When you plug it into the computer to add files, no second sd is seen. You have to take the micro out put it in an adapter and put it in an sd slot. Just to experiment, I copied the music and books folder and put in some albums and books. Placed it back into my Iconia, restarted the Iconia, and my music and ereader program actually read the contents. You will see the external sd in the storage section, and it will show the size, but it is greyed out, and you are not able to move any files already on the internal card to the sd. I'm not really computer savvy, and it took me a while to figure this out, but, since the tabs do not really see the external card, you just have to work around it until, from what I understand, is a Google update, which will fix the problem. Sorry, didn't mean to be so long winded, but, maybe this might help someone.
