Annoyingly, though, the actual *price* of things once they cross the Atlantic usually works out at nearer £1 to $1, which is what I meant. Something retailing at $499 in the U.S. will usually cost as near as dammit £499 over here.

The edges are very sharp for a tablet, and the bezel is too wide. Also, it’s somewhat heavy. The Prime shortens the bezel, softens and smooths out the edges, and is lighter. It even adds hotness with how thin it is and the shiny metal. The OG Transformer also feels cheap with the back cover. There is some kind of air space that if you press on the back you can feel it depress.

Prime looks to be the best tablet ever made.

ability to manage more details like real time physics, dynamic lights and all

At present it’s more or less $1 = £1 which is ridiculous, but that’s the way it is. Part of the price increase can be warranted with the increase in RAM (base model of the prime is 32Gb, whereas that’s the top-end original Transformer).

The things really attracting me are the weight (or lack of it), screen quality and incredible battery life. Quotes of 12 hours continuous 1080p video streaming? Up to 16 with the keyboard attached? Wow.

Apparently Asus will not be offering a 16gb model for the Prime, which means there’ll be none price at  $399.  But a 32gb quad-core for $499 is a good deal.
