I used to think that, when I was comparing MFLOP/MFLOP, or CPU to CPU, etc. But I realized this is filling a specific gap - people who don't need the full power of a shrunken desktop CPU (which is effectively what a laptop is).

These devices use little power in comparison, and are very light/maneuverable. Having recently switched from a hands-on tech role to one that's more direction-providing, I could probably use one of these rather than my laptop. Since much of my remaining hands-on is through RDP or LogMeIn anyway, the only thing I'd miss is Visio (provided there's an Android version of our VPN).

I have an IBM ThinkPad X61, which is a wonderful 2lb notebook as my personal laptop, that I never use anymore. I may sell it and buy one of these.

I read about the delay elsewhere. The above theory seems reasonable and makes me feel better about the delay. The Slider format makes a lot of sense for me, but I also wonder what the Ice-Cream update will do to all Android device plans.

Recently my little Archos70 (a stopgap device) was updated and seems to be running better. Archos Gen9 devices will be available sometime in Sept-Nov and they have some great features. We will also soon see the Toshiba Thrive soon. So many options, so many choices?????
