I sent a message to ASUS earlier this month about the EA800. They informed me that they will NOT be releasing it in the US….EVER…. how incredibly disappointing.

Planning to return my HTC Flyer which I bought a couple of days ago. The Flyer is not quite there yet, and all I really wanted was the digital note-taking feature. So, this device seems a whole lot more practical in terms of use and price. Can’t wait.

I will definitely get it from Taiwan through my student. I have my own E-ink reader, but for business and during consultancy, note taking is crucial to us.
Hence, long battery life, prompt start up and monochrome is excellent for us.
Size is 8″ – exactly like our normal B5 note pad..common among Japanese and Chinese.

Thanks Asus…I have 3 EEE PC at home and children learned and grow up with that.

Several of us have already bought ours from vendors in Taiwan. It’s a great device, but ASUS needs to fix some issues in their firmware before it will be accepted as a finished product.
It runs embedded linux with a Qt/embedded application framework. The 4B of internal storage is actually an SD card in an internal slot which a few of us have upgraded to 8GB.

Would have to see this in a video first or try one out at a store, but this would be great for taking notes at school! So tired of going thru pages and pages of unsearchable notes!

Me too. At that sort of price it’s getting to the stage where you could happily have a dedicated digital note-taking device, with battery life that means you can keep it in your bag all week and not really worry.
