Asus Eee Keyboard set to hit in October

Back at CES in January, I was roaming around the Asus booth and one of the PR schleps pulled me into a room in the back to show me the Eee keyboard. My first thoughts were yeah its cool, but what's the point of the thing really. Asus has finally confirmed when the Eee Keyboard will ship and it now has one bit of tech crammed inside that may just make it useful after all.

The Eee Keyboard, in case you don't know, is an Eee netbook with all the innards crammed inside a desktop keyboard along with a screen on the right where the number pad usually sits. Said screen can show things like your calendar and others.

The new tech I didn't hear about at CES is that the Eee Keyboard will get wireless HDMI. That means that the keyboard can act as your HTPC rig in your living room and connect to your big screen with no need for wires. Exactly how you would connect the keyboard to your TV was the big concern I had at CES. Inside the device will reportedly sit a 1.6GHz Atom CPU, 16 or 32GB of SSD storage, and 802.11n Wi-Fi along with Bluetooth. Asus plans to offer the Eee keyboard in October at $400 to $500.
