It appears that Asus is stepping up to the plate and challenging manufacturers like Creative with their new Xonar Sound card.

Asus Xonar

Asus is showing of the new line at this year’s Computex in Taipei. They are using a custom chip called the Asus AV200 in the new D2-series cards. We will be seeing these in both PCI and PCIe flavors. It’s good to see that we might actually get some use out of these PCIe 1x slots that are collecting dust on our motherboards.

The cards support Dolby standards such as Digital Live, Headphone, Pro Logic IIX and more. No word yet on pricing or availability.
