Thanks for the history lesson, but I know the material quite well as an engineer working in the field. “figuring the tech out” was implying that they figure how the tech involved in mass producing the chips. This is what intel will have patented. This is also beside the point of my original question/statement.

Sorry, but “if”? The damn tech is over 11 years old. And the idea is 20 years old. It’s just not that easy to implement.

They have not reported anything about releasing this tech, so what you say is pure speculation and they might be very restricted if Intel have good patent lawyers.

But, that wasn’t my point. If IBM and AMD do figure this tech out, then it will further illustrate my argument. If all these manufacturers do start making these more powerful/very low power chips, the projection in this article is most likely very wrong.

Ahem.. IBM and AMD? I’m sure Intel will be the first to introduce the tech into their chips, but very similar ideas will be used by other chip designing companies and manufacturers.
