Argos MyTablet features 7-inch display and 8 GB of storage

Argos has announced a new tablet that will be competing for buyer's dollars during the holiday season in the UK. The tablet is called the Argos MyTablet and will be a budget priced £99 device aimed directly at budget shoppers. The tablet will be going head-to-head with the slightly more expensive £119 Hudl tablet from Tesco.

That Tesco tablet turned out to be very popular with 35,000 units being sold in the first 48 hours of availability. The MyTablet has a seven-inch screen with a resolution of 1024 x 600. The tablet runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and comes with several preloaded apps.

Those apps include offerings like Angry Birds and the BBC iPlayer. The tablet has 8 GB of internal storage and features Wi-Fi and Bluetooth built-in. Argos says that it's targeting kids 8 to 13 years old with the tablet. The tablet will also feature a number of parental controls.

The processor under the hood is a 1.6 GHz dual-core processor. The MyTablet will reportedly be available in two colors, which appear to be white or pink. The price of £99 is about $160 here in the US.
