Why is Amazon charging a third more for the price off the Archos 80 g9 (£301) compared to buying it direct from Archos at £199?

I’d like to know if these can do USB hosting through the port that’s used for the 3G stick when it’s not being used for the aforementioned purpose, and how much RAM these come with will be a make or brake point in their success.

does anybody know if the Archos 80 will charge through the micro usb port, or will it have a dedicated charging plug and port. My Gtablet only charges with the AC Adapter and a dedicated port, kinda sucks

So how much ram r we getting this time in gen9? Can’t find amywhere on web on Ram capacity. I read somewhere that honeycomb needs at least 1G ram to run smooth. Hopefully Archos will not b stingy on this very important RAM aspect this time around.

If they ACTUALLY market the product, I would imagine at MUCH cheaper than iPad 2 and others, this would appeal to many people looking for top-end OS, and lots of features, maybe sacrificing some speed. I say marketing with processor enhancements = great product sales :)

I paid $32.67 for a XBOX 360 and my mom got a 17 inch Toshiba laptop for $94.83 being delivered to our house tomorrow by FedEX. I will never again pay expensive retail prices at stores. I’ve been waiting to see more tablets based on something besides Tegra 2. It’s pretty openly known that almost every other processor beats the Tegra 2 hands down in benchmarks and such. The real problem is that because the OMAP 4 hasn’t seen much light yet with Honeycomb, I’m sure most of the optimizations for the processor just aren’t there yet, which most likely explains sluggish performance.

It’s always tricky to film a tablet with one hand while holding the camera; next time I’ll take a tripod! But, from using both Archos slates two-handed (while not filming) I can say the performance was indeed slow. Fingers-crossed the few months Archos have until launch are enough for them to polish the software experience.

Where in the video does it look slow? It looks like Chris is jungling around with it with his thumb, that’s not how a tablet is used, people use both hands and usually the index finger. And yes, it makes sense work still nees to be made, this is one of the first demos of Honeycomb running on any other processor than Nvidia Tegra2.

That lag is very bad. My Archos70-250gb is slow, but that is worse. I hope they can fix it.

You’re comparing Gen8 with Gen9? I’ve got a Gen8 and I agree its sluggish. It still only has 256 Megs of RAM. I REALLY hope they’ve upped the RAM on the Gen9 tabs, otherwise I probably won’t go with one :(

got an archos 101 right here , 300$ at hk airport , the alternate market seriously suck (got the real one on now) , keyb was slugish until replaced by better keyboard 8 , thinking of flashing with OTA but haing issues intalling a rev. console (locked boot loader ?) , anyway , no deep regret , but no more archos for me
