Archos 5 & 7 PMPs on sale; HSDPA possible with USB modem

Archos' new range of Internet Media Tablets are now available to order on Amazon, complete with a number of accessories.  The online retailer is listing all three versions of the Archos 5 – with 60GB, 120GB and 250GB storage – and both Archos 7 versions – 160GB and 320GB – but not the Archos 5g, which has a built-in HSDPA modem.

As well as the PMPs, there are two DVR docks; one a base station into which the Internet Media Tablet sits, the other a snap-on adapter more suitable to mobile use.  There's also both a battery dock and a mini dock.  Amazon also have listed a Helmet Camcorder, compatible with both the Archos 5 and 7, that is intended for recording sports and leisure activities to the PMPs.

  • Availability for all of the PMPs and accessories is stated as 2-4 weeks.  Amazon also confirms that any of the new models have to potential to be HSDPA compatible:

    There's no indication of whether a specific USB modem is needed or if any will work.
