totally agree with Cory. Been waiting for a good device that blends analog with SIP (and build in net functions).... and this appears to do it all. no access to google market sounds like a bumper though... but i think video face to face calling is still too far out for most home consumers who are still trying to figure out how change the time on their vcr's. So it's a good gap technology for the next 5 yrs... I've already tossed my land line cordless piece of crap that were all failing... and i refuse to pay $100 for dinosaur technology from Costco (suppliers like uniden etc..)

I hate to sound high and mighty, (but I'm going to do it anyway) I just love how the product demos go out to those who are really not familiar with the product. It seems as though the only real complaint is that the android market does not come preinstalled. One quick fix for this is to d-load an app from appslib called 'arctools'. This app automatically configures the archos product running froyo or higher to access the android market. I own the seven inch archos A70H Internet tablet which runs froyo (I just love this product) and this works like a champ. Good review, all in all, despite a lack of familiarity with the manufacturers product. Archos is light years ahead of the ipad and the first company to produce an Internet table. Hey, is there any way I could review or even serve as a consultant for a demo in the future?

The prices are a little high. However, there is some promise. Archos needs to drop Appslib and work with Amazon for their store. As for the clock, it would definitely beat into people who rely on iOS devices for home music (as long as the speakers are as good as docks). The home phone is a good option, and a step in the right direction. I would be willing to replace my Siemens that supports POTS and SIP for this one that seems to do both as well (with a SIP client). Now if more companies were going in the right direction, this will be good. Not perfect, but a step closer.

Well, for a start I'd say this isn't a review, it's an initial hands-on experience with prototypes a few months out from commercial launch, as I point out above.

The problem I have with your argument is that "a great product for the price" isn't something most consumers will consciously consider - they'll simply find it lacking compared to what their friends have, which is probably (at this stage) an iPad. I'm waiting until I can try the production versions before I decide if it's actually a good balance of performance and price.

I do not understand the reviewers here. They look at a device costing a lot less than other devices then say its not as good.

They really need to go back to school and do some maths. Add up the costs of the components then add in the development costs and see what you get.

I think its a great product for the price. Same goes for the other tablets. Compare it against products costing the same, not something 2 x the price.
