I remain skeptical of Liquidmetal Technologies until I see proof they have solved the microfracture/suddenly shatters problem. They tried making Golf clubs before Apple bought them -- They were excellent golf clubs (truly amazing) right up until they started shattering at ball strike after a few rounds.

I used to do machining on parts like that before the wide use of CNC milling machines and it took a heck of a lot of setup work and multiple jigs for milling and lathing. Now they're saying they can do that part in one shot. It's very hard for me to imagine how advanced it is to handle metal as though it were plastic. Awesome. If Apple has some sort of patent over this process that could really give them some edge in manufacturing speed. I hope Apple breaks out the reserve cash and starts production of these metal injection molding machines. It even leaves unibody construction in the dust if it doesn't even require finishing. Look for Apple to start producing high-tech touch display watches. Simply amazing.
