- flush with the surface when folded

However, these stands are not for iPads. Apple should be granted this patent to prevent anybody else from making iPads with a stand. We know true innovation when we see it.

Patently Apple, and other tech blogs (e.g., Engadget, Gizmodo) are notorious for very sloppy language – best not to follow in their ill-informed footsteps (patent applications and an issued patents are two very different things).
