Removing an optical drive is not equal to locking down. I havent used the optical drive on my laptop for over a year. That does'nt mean that no one will be using cd drive at all, but they sure are a shrinking minority. And they still have the options to use a portable cd drive if they wish to do so.
Also sandboxing application doesnt mean that users can only install applications from the apple store, true for iPhone and iPad but not for macs, atleast not yet.

Apple dealers worldwide and customers have had enough. Now apple is moving to lock down their pc line , no cd drivesetc.etc. content only available from the apple store all developers will have to give them 30%.. there goes software development for the mac....they will just move to windows also, just like the people will..

Yet another sign of Apple beginning to fall behind Microsoft in innovation!
