Think before you type and maybe your words will contain insight rather than insult, merit rather than madness, and therefore worth reading. Hard work, intelligence, and investment lead to innovation and patents promote and accelerate this process. Great new products come from this process but while imitation is the most sincere form of flattery it strangles innovation.

Ouch, Apple keeps losing and wining negligible lawsuits. Injuction in Germany? No infringement from Motorola? Already an HTC workaround the one single patent? Not looking good. Nice to see the iSheep cheerleaders are encouraging anti-competitive behavior.

that is what it all comes down to in my opinion…the one thing apple fears more than anything so they have to rip it apart as if they are gods! Steve Jobs himself even said he would spend every last penny to end google. to me that is just so ridiculous to be so afraid of competition. i always thought competition was good for business?

weather or not it is supposed to work the way it does, the way the patent system seems to work now is that patents are granted, and prior art is only brought into the equation when someone challenges the patent after it has been granted.

one might say that as long as the claim of prior art is valid, the court case will be resolved, the patent will be void, so what’s the big deal which comes first?

the reason this system doesn’t work is that many patents, like many apple have filed, are amazingly vague. When someone challenges a huge company like apple, or when apple challenges another company, regardless of who had the prior art, the large company’s deep pockets allow them to keep their opponent tied up in court through the main proceedings and subsequent appeals so long that the other side plain runs out of money and can’t keep the process up, even if they are the one who should be the rightful owner of the patent. The American IP system is a “might = right” system where money, not legitimate claim, determines the winner.

I think all multitouch technologies are similar, Multitouch are based on mutual touch sensing using electrodes +/- to when interacted. Infra-red multi-touch is different. But i’m sure the patent above is a bit vague
