Apple Watch users can now order Domino's pizza from the wrist

US pizza chain Domino's has been busy keeping up with tech trends over the last year and incorporating them into ways to place orders. Last spring they introduced a way for users to simply tweet @Dominos with a pizza emoji to place an order. That was followed up by an "Easy Order" button, reducing the ordering process to a single physical press. And just before the Super Bowl this year, the company introduced support for the Amazon Echo smart speaker. Now Domino's is moving to the next logical platform: the Apple Watch.

With the latest version of the Domino's app for iOS, the Apple Watch app has been updated with the ability to place an order from the wrist. For some time now, Domino's has already had delivery tracking on its apps for both Apple Watch and Android Wear devices, but now users can initiate the order without taking their phone out of their pocket.

Just like the emoji tweeting, physical button, and Amazon Echo features, ordering from the Apple Watch is tied to users' Pizza Profile; in other words, their account on Domino's website. That where users create and save an Easy Order, basically a pie with pre-determined toppings ahead of time, along with their address and payment method. Once the order button is tapped in the app, Domino's makes the pizza and sends it out for delivery.

According to Domino's, they're the first pizza chain in the US to debut ordering from the Apple Watch. Along with this latest app update, the delivery tracker feature now offers notifications, so users will always now how close their pizza is to arriving at the front door.
