Apple Watch news: leaked icon, a new app, and a fresh landing page

Apple CEO Tim Cook says it's coming in April. Various other reports lay out a litany of non-official info about the Apple Watch, but one thing is certain: we're interested in Apple's first official wearable. A new landing page for the Apple Watch aims to educate the public a bit more about why the Apple Watch is something they should consider, while the actual iOS app for the Apple Watch (which we've discussed before) has also been leaked via Twitter.

We're also getting an early look at apps for the Apple Watch. Todoist is a popular to-do app for iOS, and are hard at work on their simple-yet-effective accompaniment app for Apple Watch. If Todoist is aiming for a February delivery of their wearable app, as we've heard Apple has asked their partners to do, this is a pretty solid submission.

9to5Mac's Mark Gurman took to Twitter to show off the Apple Watch app for iOS devices — or at least what we're seeing now. This could very well be an early concept icon we're seeing, or the final build. Nobody outside of Apple knows for certain. Judging by the comments on Mark's post, people aren't too thrilled with what they're seeing.

Apple has redesigned the Apple Watch landing page to further show off the features their first wearable is capable of. Messaging is displayed front and center, while Apple's offbeat features like sharing your heartbeat or drawing a picture to send along are also being shown off.

The Apple Watch, like many wearables, will be a conduit for some of the simpler tasks you might do on your phone. If what we're already seeing is any indication, the Apple Watch will likely be a big hit on launch day.
