Apple watch has 8GB total memory; 2GB exclusively for music

Apple's incoming wearable, the Apple Watch, has captured the minds of many. As we parse through what the device is capable of, we also wonder what the spec sheet might hold for us. While we will probably have to wait for a teardown to get the full scope of what's beneath the glass on our wrists, a new report suggests Apple has confirmed their Apple Watch has 8GB memory across the board. All versions will have this single memory option, with 2GB earmarked for music.

The Apple Watch also has a slight 75MB set aside for photo storage, according to 9to5Mac.

Depending on the type and size of the songs you want to bring with you, it's plausible the 2GB music storage on Apple Watch can tuck nearly 500 songs on your wrist. Pair it to a set of Bluetooth headphones, and you really can leave home for a walk or run without taking your phone along.

As for the 75MB photo storage, that's something you'll have to be pretty judicious with. We know Apple Watch will resize images for best results on your wrist, so it's probably not as bad as it sounds. Still, you won't be tucking full photo albums away on your wrist.

As for the rest of the memory —- nearly 6GB — that's unclear. A portion will clearly be eaten up by the operating system itself, and we're sure some settings and apps will need room as well. Apple didn't outline much beyond music and pictures.
