There is not an operating system on the planet that can protect you if you are careless enough to type in your admin password and grant permission for a program like this to be installed. I don’t see how that is a weakness in the Mac OS, but rather a certain naiveness/trust from unsuspecting computer users.

No, JASN_DE is correct. One of Apple’s selling points was that it’s a more secure environment. But, OSX is more than exploitable, as witnessed several times via Pwn2Own and Metasploit conferences.

This will be the first of many exploits. When more people start using a commericial OS, there will be more attempts to profit with “black hat” efforts.

It’s curious it took so long for Mac malware to start. And Mac users make quite juicy targets; about as clueless as the standard Windows user, but often with more money.
Well, seems to be what you get with increasing market share.
