Depends on the laptop, some can go up to around 12 hours with a 9 cell now and add a battery slice and the same system can go for a full 23-24 hours. They'll just weight a lot more than a iPad but that's a the cost of having to support a more powerful computer.

While being able to replace the battery is generally a good thing unless you want to replace your device every single year or two. Lithium batteries degrade even if you don't use them after all. Using them just speeds the process up.

Replaceable batteries also means extendable run times. Some PC
Tablets made for the industrial usages for example offer dual user
replaceable batteries so you can replace one while the system still runs
with the other and just keep on going as long as you have a spare
battery charged to swap in.

Versus the typical everyday usage that can reduce iPad battery capacity to about 6+ hours after about 9 months for the average person. Longer if you're a light user but still not good if you actually need it to last the original 10+ hours when you first got it and sending it in to Apple to get the battery replaced can be a pain as you mail it to them and then wait for them to mail it back.

Assuming of course they don't pull any of that nonsense like they did sometimes with iPods and send you a different unit.

But hey, if you're fine with it then that's good for you. To each their own... The iPad is good for what it is and everyone who gets one will either be happy with it or eventually go with whatever does make them happy..

Don't think so?

Look at the specification page for the new iPad and note that the non-operable temperature starts at 113 degrees. While the tested high temperature was noted to be 116 degrees while gaming...

Systems usually have some leeway on the limits but that definitely suggest a potential problem for at least those who work the system hard for prolonged periods.

Tab 7? You mean the old model with C110, 1GHz, Cortex A8 Hummingbird and Android 2.2 Froyo? No wonder your CEO had a bad experience, the new 7.7 with ICS is way better than that old model.

You are certainly in the minority.... my CEO recently picked up a Galaxy Tab 7, thinking he could use it instead of his iPad 2, being he could hold it more comfortably in one hand... that lasted less than a week, and the frustrations boiled to the point where he ordered IT to return the Galaxy Tab immediately. The performance was subpar at best, touch response sucked, and the non-fluid movement between screens was the worst possible. The fact that he had to manage apps, brought out the obvious that Android failed where iOS hasn't... it's not about the specs, its about the user experience.

If this was a PC, I would be skeptical. Since it is an Apple, and people get paid to write about Apple and all things Apple, what better else to write about than a Lemon. Personally, the track record on criticisms of Apple products has been very poor, as have the predictions about what Apple products will and will not include. But it's fun and enjoyable in its own way, unless you are making a decision about laying a chunk of money down on it. Then, a little objective truth would go a long way. Got any? It seems you can find all arguments on all sides any where you look, so I think it's probably appropriate to just ignore everything you hear. Go down to the Apple store and give it a test drive for yourself.
