pretty sure iphone was the first of its kind which spring boarded everyone from android to windows to come out with their phones. same with ipad. so yeah…it did change the world. if they FAILED as you say they did then they wouldnt be the worlds most valuable company and brand in the world.

Both the droid logo and the picture above are references to HAL 9000 from 2001: A Space Odyssey. Which I think was a supercomputer/AI that was too smart malfunctioned or something. (I don’t know that much about it but I recognize it because its kinda of iconic).

doesn’t matter how many people can afford one – it exists, and the world, the whole world, is much more likely to have a mobile computer or desire a mobile computer in the near future. i’d stand by the idea that the iphone changed the world — this voice assistant thing? not so much.

I think the original iPhone DID alter the technology landscape for the better, and is almostly solely responsible for the crop of cool new mini super computers (smartphones) we see today. However, “world-changing”? I don’t think so.
