Apple touts massive iOS 5 adoption at WWDC 2012

This week at Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference it was announced that iOS was not only doing quite well on its own, it was eating Android's lunch as far as installed user base was concerned. Scott Forstall mentioned that 365 million iOS devices were sold through March 30th, 2012, and of those, the vast majority were working with iOS 5. This was compared to Android where only a small sliver of the pie was dedicated to Android 4.0, their newest version.

Next Apple spoke on how 140 million iMessage users existed, and how 1 billion messages were sent every single day. Out of the top 100 social apps, Apple noted that they had 84 of them working with Notification Center, and that 7 billion notifications were being sent per day. The Game Center was shown to have 130 million accounts with 67 of the top 100 games adopting it. Twitter showed 10 billion tweets inside iOS 5 alone.

This has all lead to the next big gun: iOS 6 for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch. Stick around as we continue our liveblog as well as our WWDC 2012 portal all day long! Check out our live feed at http://live.slashgear.com/ and stay tuned!
