Funny, I must have read it differently. Apple's TV may prove to be another strong product, but after that, it's curtains. The iPhone is already becoming an "also-ran" and Android tablets are quickly catching up, soon to repeat smartphone market history. Apple's best days are behind them. Without Steve Jobs, they're done like dinner in a few years.

The biggest problem with your plan is that Samsung doesn't operate in a vacuum. They have competition. Maybe LG couldn't pass Apple's QA on the display panels for the new iPad this year, but they ARE making hi-res panels, just not good enough panels...yet. It's a safe bet that LG is working very, very hard to make sure that they can be a quality panel supplier next year, and for lower cost than Samsung.

Apple is putting a lot of money into new factories that are owned by Samsung's competitors. Right now, today, Samsung is king of the component hill. But when their biggest customer is explicitly trying to push them off the hill, it won't be long before Sammy goes tumbling down.

I agree with one point: my money is on Samsung's CPU and panel operations going bust by 2016 as well. It's a special kind of stupid when companies openly compete with their largest and best-paying clients, and Samsung is soon to reap the stupid that they've sown.

but it’s also a reminder that the company’s own products have yet to achieve anywhere near as much success.---
If you're going by sales, Samsung beat Apple for handset sales in 2011 and was second place by 0.5 million handsets in Q4. So yes, in that sense Samsung has nearly as much success as Apple.

Samsung is a massive conglomerate, where each division operates as a mostly independent company, and where what happens between Samsung Mobile and Apple has exactly zero to do with what happens between Samsung Screen & Chip Fabrication and Apple. Nor are you taking into account that Samsung (the conglomerate) deciding to break the contract might wind up costing them several times the cost of the contract (in addition to the cost of the lost business).

If I were Samsung I would just terminate all supply contracts with Apple and see them go down the chute. So much for their 'innovation' and 'technology', without Samsung Apple will be nothing. They are arguably the greatest plagiarists and stealers the IT industry has ever seen, spanning 3 decades of ripping off and knocking off other people's ideas and technology and rebranding them as their own.
Never fear though, they can hoodwink Joe public for only too long and soon they will be uncovered for all the laughable sham that they really are.
My money is on them going bust by 2016.
