Apple supply chain tips new displays for most products within the next year

Apple has a long history of using impressive displays most of its products. This is particularly true for the devices that use high-resolution Retina displays. Sources within Apple's supply chain have tipped that Apple is set to revamp the displays for most of its product lines within the next year.

This tip comes from NPD DisplaySearch after it performed research within the Apple supply chain. NPD says that the new research confirms earlier reports that Apple is set to revamp displays across many of its product lines. The research firm also notes that Apple's display update plans show that Apple again intends to count on display technology for its product innovation.

NPD says that the iPhone 6 will feature a 4.7-inch screen with a resolution of 1280 x 720. It also lists a second iPhone 6 model featuring a 5.7-inch screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 and indications are that the device will land in Q2 of 2014. On the iPad 5 front, NPD suggests that the screen will be a 9.7-inch unit with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 and suggests the device will land in Q4 of 2014.

A new iPad is tipped for 2014 featuring a 12.9-inch screen with a resolution of 2732 x 2048. Another product tipped to be coming in Q4 2013 is the iPad mini 2 with a 7.9-inch screen boasting a resolution of 2048 x 1536. On the MacBook Air front, a new version with a low-power 12-inch screen boasting a resolution of 2304 x 1440 is coming in 2014. NPD also tips a new Apple TV with 55 and 65-inch screens supporting 4K resolution plan for Q3 of 2014 with the anticipated iWatch expected in Q4 of 2014.
