fu*k samsung, they copy, i worked for samsung in UK. They went and bought a sony dvb to see how is was set up, because samsung’s dvb’s were transmitting harmful radio waves. we had to change some sh*t inside the devices, and made them like sony’s. we had to disassemble the devices and assemble them again, 10 days delay

I remember all these elements were available in old phones except for the touch screen. I even remember htc’s windows phones with full touch screen having all the elements before ever thought of making a phone. If they cant reinvent themselves and make better looking & functional phones regularly & stick to the same design and for years the god help them.

Even if samsung looses to Apple in this battle( which i seriously doubt) people will start moving away from apple for their stale and stagnant designs.

Look at nokia they have been reinventing themselves for a long time in terms of design but were stagnant with their functional part so they are falling behind.

I totally hate apple but i dont want it to be soo unimaginative and fade away from the trade.

Samsung will not say this is the “only way” to make it. They will say that this is the way the consumer wants it, they will say this is previous art and because of that, Apple has no right to call it IP and they will say that Apples case is a blatant attempt to snag a monopoly on broad, generic and obvious design choices! Design choices that will surely prevent competition.

Nokia has patents for all of this and they came up with the iphone concept way back and they just never did anything with it. They used to represent 30% of the R&D in this market.
Apple did not invent much except marketing and overpricing

actually, there is very little protection for car and clothing design. Which is why brands like LV and Gucci bags have their logo all over the bags, anyone can just copy the design legally but they cant use a trademark logo.
AFAIK, Tech patents work differently for some reason. IMO, Samsung didnt just copy a design though, they emulated the iOS home screen to use in marketing material, along with many other things. Ultimately though, I dont think apple will get much out of this.

Clearly these companies have way too much money and time on their hands. Let’s penalize them both for a total of 5 billion and then put that money to good use, like purchasing the patent for birth control pills so they can be manufactured freely everywhere, thereby reducing the population and addressing a real problem.

I blame whoever signed off of such ridiculously vague patents. I think the silver lining will be, patent law will change.

• Metallic bezel around a flat clear surface?

• Rectangular product with four evenly rounded corners?

I have owned Samsung phones. They are ok. But they do take a few ideas from apple. How about Samsung and all the rest of the phone makers start designing their own interfaces. Apple has put alot of design effort on their phones. And yes there is a “Apple Feel” to them that makes them distinctly Apple. Samsung is gonna have to pony up some coin.
