Apple seeds iTunes 10.5 beta 8 and iWork beta 3 for iOS

Apple today released iTunes 10.5 beta 8 and iWork beta 3 for iOS to its registered developers. The updates fix several performance bugs and brings new enhancements to the iTunes Match feature. There is also continuing integration of the iCloud as Apple moves towards its public launch of iOS 5, expected to be sometime in late September or early October.

The iTunes 10.5 beta 8 will be needed to continue using the iTunes Match feature and developers are encouraged to sign up for the $24.99 per year service. For testing the service, however, developers do get extra months of service in return. The iWork beta 3 for iOS also brings some bug fixes and will ultimately include document syncing with the iCloud.

However, missing from this latest batch of updates is a new beta for the iOS 5 itself. This suggests that Apple is winding down on development for iOS 5 and is mainly working out the integration of other Apple software with the platform and fine tuning its cloud-based features.
