It doesn’t matter whether its barristas or burritos who are buying iPhone. The value of a product is determined by the market. So if a burrito loves the bouncing scroll and he is willing to pay a premium for it – the opinion of basement dwelling tacos really doesn’t count.

If Samsung copied Apple in appealing to the burritos ufairly by slavishly copying Apple – Samsung has to pay.

If I were Samsung I would file an Opposition with a “survey” of how much Apple customers would be willing to pay over the current IPhone price to have 3G on their phones. I assume it would be much higher than $90-100 a device.

I think one thing being neglected in these comments is that a Galaxy Tab 10.1 looks nearly identical to an Ipad. Thrifty but fashion consumers will ask themselves “Why spend more for an ipad when you can fool 90% of onlookers with a Galaxy Tab?”. Nevertheless, apple just seems bitter about free market competition in this suit.

I’m really getting tired of this seriously…we have to sit here not month after the month but day after day reading Apple is once again suing (favorite company to go after:Samsung) someone and they almost always get away with it. Why is this still going on can Apple, get of their f-in high horse and let other companies make products with the fear of being in their crosshairs. $2.5 bn! Really? Sounds like apple is saying the only smart phones sold should start with an “i”. What a joke. Why not just claim your owed $200bn. Hey apple, WAKE UP! Your never gonna be the only smart phone provider on the market. Just because other companies are successful selling a product you also sell doesn’t mean that they stole the ideal from you. Fire half your bloodsucking lawyers, put the money saved towards developing new innovative products, and watch your ( already ridiculous ) profits increase. Even though I think apple products are better in many ways. I will be showing my disgust by choosing android next time. What is apple trying to achieve? Can the look of a product be patented?

This of course is not just Apple’s fault. If the patent system allows such frivolous patents then it must be overhauled.

I completely understand the position Apple is in. BUT, Apple is trying to claim that THEY were the SOLE INVENTOR of the smartphone. I’m sorry, the design? It was around before the iPhone. App layout? App store? countless after countless features? in other phones way before the iPhone. And the stuff that isn’t in those? “invented” in science fiction/by scientists and never got around to patenting.

If you go through it, you will realize that there is just a every few things (if that) that apple actually done.
