Apple releases firmware updates for all late 2008 MacBook models

Today Apple released a number of new updates for their new “Late 2008” MacBook, MacBook Pro and MacBook Air. For those of you who are wondering this firmware update comes in two pieces, an EFI update and an SMC update.

The Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI) specifies the difference between the computers operating system and firmware. This type of update addresses any issues related to overall system stability. For more information regarding this update, or to manually download this update please visit the Apple support page.

System Management Controller (SMC) updates control all the various power-related functions of your Mac. Apple simply states that this update addressed the "sensing and accuracy of the MagSafe Power Adapter indicator light, and the battery charge indicator lights." We are unsure what other power-related functions this update may cover. For more information regarding this update, or to manually download this update please visit the Apple support page.
