What do you care if Apple makes a profit. If they run a more efficient system and charge even 1/2 what tb pubs charge, it will help students. No one will stop you from buying the overpriced paper version!

Yeah, it was sarcasm. Apple blows. They just sued NYC for using an apple as a logo, and now they just put their own logo on NYC’s skyline. Appholes.

I hope that is sarcasm. If anything I’d expect them to be trying to lock in textbook publishers so that they can charge more and prevent textbooks from being used on devices other than their overpriced iPads/iPhones/iPods. They’ve never been about anything but profit, and if they can make it from students who NEED the books, so much the better in their eyes.

This is why Apple should release the new iPad in the fall, just before school starts. This will rev up interest for it and if they have digital textbooks you can buy or transfer to the device using an app, it will be perfect for students going back to school.

Not gonna happen. Apple is about closed enviroments, which is ok for ensuring a good user experience on the Apple sandbox. But they couldn’t be further from “open” and “multiplatform”.

I bet Apple is going to announce a standards compliant, open, and multi-platform solution for textbooks, which will work on macs, pcs, android and BBs.
