…because when I asked Siri the same question last fall I got different results — suggesting the original ‘story’ was fabricated. You should always read something thoroughly before responding, less embarrassing for you that way ;-)

Since you have a problem with your reading comprehension skills allow me to restate: “Apple didnt tweak the SEARCH results” and thats empirically true. Yeah Apple tweaked what Siri did by default, but again…who gives a shit?

Kids like you usually grow up and find out that no one gives a shit about terms like “isheep” and “fandroid” and your silly little brand flame wars don’t really count for much in the real world. You are retarded if you’re using Siri as an asset in purchasing decisions anyway, but again; you’re a kid and probably dont understand that adults and real tech enthusiasts probably dont use novelties like Siri to tell them what the “best” smartphone is

That single screenshot has been circulating since this ‘story’ first started, though I’ve not gotten those results asking the same question since the 1st day of 4S launch. I’ve always gotten the ‘what, there are other smartphones?’ and ‘you’re kidding, right’ responses that are supposedly ‘new’.

Ridiculous what’s presented as factual on blog sites these days… :-(

Narrow data? Make a search about the Lumia and you will see that people that actually have the phone they like it a lot and none less than 4 stars in their reviews. Maybe were Wolfram got the data have ins’t the biggest sample or users but it was accurate in this case.

Interesting. You have to wonder what else has been “tweaked” on Siri. This is questioning Siri’s integrity – is it really objective? What if a business pissed off someone in Apple and that was “tweaked” to not show up in searches?

Once you know that the system is biased (and I don’t mean specifically the question at hand, I mean in general) you have to wonder how much confidence you can have in it’s recommendations.

Apple didn’t tweak the search results they just made the question not default to a Wolfram Alpha query. If you tell Siri to “search best smart phone” youll get the same link you did as before.

Your joking right? Siri is what made the 4S so popular. That was Apple’s ‘golden egg’ so to speak, and that’s what they marketed. In an iPhone commercial you don’t see them advertise anything else.

No Siri is NOT a search app, Siri is marketed as a general assistant and voice recognition with “personality” integration. If you call Siri stupid, it doesnt search the web for anything, it gives you a hurt/funny/apathetic response. Apple has every right to to add whatever response they want when asked what the best smartphone is…

Try telling Siri “search best smartphone” and you get the same Nokia links as before. Getting butt-hurt because Apple decided to tweak the “what is the best smartphone” response to respond with something Apple related by default is just making a big deal out of nothing. Especially when saying a smartphone is the “best” is completely unverifiable anyway.

One trouble, of course, was that Siri’s answer (from Wolfram) was based on very narrow data. So while it happened to fall in Lumia’s direction, it could be easily argued that that answer, unqualified, was far more misleading than an obvious joke response.

Well, yes I can blame them- and so should everyone else. For whose benefit do customers spend top dollar on Apple’s products that include Siri? Hint: It’s not for Apple’s. Side note: I find it creepy that many Apple users refer to Siri as “she” or “her”. If Siri is a female, then what are their wives and girlfriends? I don’t own any Apple products and kind-of feel sorry for my friends that in Apple’s perpetual upgrade energy field. I am a design engineer, and try to tell them that the most often used of the speech recognition functions that Siri provides have been available on Windows phones since about 2004 without using network bandwidth. And I am not a big fan of Microsoft, just a user though I am running Android right now.
