What do you mean that this would never work?? The auto industry has been doing this for years. There are a lot of incentives for company to do this…taxes, currency conv. and it provides a way to balance the company across stable economies.

Sounds like they’re readying themselves to completely turn the tables- establishing a veritable manufacturing ‘ghetto’ in the economic disaster area that is Detroit. They can then outsource THEIR efforts to the US. Seems almost perfect- for Foxconn! If they can get around any remaining pesky human-rights measures, we just replace product shipping with shipping money- straight overseas. An almost perfect one-way exchange.

I doubt this will be viable in the USA unless apple or government subsidise the running costs. Hot air to placate the apple backers that apple is designed and manufactured in the US
