Just an fyi, but the monetary base is the total amount of cash and coins in circulation… around the world. Indeed much if not most of that money is in foreign countries, such as Eastern Europe where the dollar is preferred over local currencies that are more quickly debased. In any case, the monetary base has nothing to do with how much money the US government has on hand.

The “Federal Reserve” is a bank, not a pile of money that the Federal government keeps in reserve… lol.The Fed could of course just print more money :P

Wealthy people have lost sight how to energize the economy. NOW APPLE has 76 Billion!!
Example: Donald Trump avers (view his Comedy Central roasting; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Obc9hdScZAs&feature=related)
to have 7 Billion Dollars and if he would just spend one billion back into the
economy. Bill Gates, who has 92 Billion Dollars could spend 5 Billion dollars
back into the economy, Warren Buffet, who has 47 Billion Dollars spend five
billion back into the economy and there are countless other billionaires,
millionaires who could spend billions or millions back into the economy. Those
dollar amounts wouldn’t affect them at all. But they won’t do it, because they
have to make money investing it instead. Another example: CEOs who would rather
accept a 5 to 25 million dollar bonus instead of using that money to save their
employee’s jobs. You see America, the wealthy are not in it for the working
class, but would rather lay you off and accept their bonuses. The economy would
recover if only ‘all of the wealthy people’ started spending some of their
wealth. God knows the middleclass doesn’t have enough money to spend any more.
There’s more… your employer has schemed to NULLIFY your earnings by stop giving
you a cost of living increase. Just review your yearly Social Security life
earnings statement for the last ten or more years. They may have given their
employees a cost of living increase for three years in a row, but then they’ll
stop for four or more years. Thus nullifying any increased income and this puts
everyone’s wages back to what they were ten years ago! If that doesn’t work,
your employer will reduce your 40 hr workweek to 35 hrs, again nullifying any
income benefit. See, the wealthy really do not care about their employees.

Not surprising. Apple’s margins have always been huge. In the early days the apple 5.25 drive was around $300.00, used software to format and had cheap plastic parts. The equivalent drive in the Tandy, CP/M, pet, etc drive was in the $100.00 range had hardware sectoring and was not flimsy.

This article is so inaccurate. You’re comparing 2 entirely different things as Prevacator stated. The U.S. government right now as of July 2011 has a federal reserve or monetary base of $2.6 trillion. Apple’s cash reserve is but a drop in the bucket compared to what the U.S. government has.

That’s an incredibly stupid way of comparing the two. Really, it’s like comparing Apples to Dogs. There’s really no comparison. One is extra cash, one is the amount necessary to reach the debt ceiling, not how much money the government has in its reserves.

The original Author is a mouth breathing idiot and deserves to be treated as such.
