If you have a MacBook or MacBook Pro, you probably are familiar with the MagSafe power adapters. They’re great because if you trip on the cord, you won’t ruin it. It’ll just pop right off of the laptop without breaking anything. However, the power adapters are known to have a flaw: they tend to fray.

Users of the MacBook 13-inch, MacBook Pro 15-inch and the MacBook Pro 17-inch may have encountered the faulty power cords. They’re characterized by a slight crack in the casing and fraying of the underlying wire. If you were still under warranty, you could get this adapter replaced, but after that, you’d have to shell out almost $100 for a new one.

Now, Apple is offering free MagSafe power adapter replacements. All you have to do is bring your wrecked adapter into an Apple retailer and they’ll give you a new one.
